# Regenesis: Blood and Ghosts
---
## MAIN PARTY
---
### Valanthe
**Race:** Elf (from Solare / Elandra) **Role:** Ranger, coalition leader, POV character **Appearance:** Blonde hair braided back, worn traveling clothes, mark of Bjornir glowing faintly beneath her collarbone. Carries a bow and sword. Pendant of Morthil at her throat, carved from wood by her own hand. **Background:** Pulled from her quiet life on a farm at the forest edge of the Elandrian forest by convergence magic seven months before Book 2 opens. Left animals behind in the care of Toven, a monk at the forest edge. Has not been home since. **Voice:** Precise, controlled, no performance. Leads from instinct rather than ambition. Cannot walk away from people who need help. **Book 2 Arc:** The coalition is built but fragile. She must hold it together while the Drakorian threat becomes real. Walks through unknown doors by the final chapter without waiting to be pushed. **Relationships:** Karrigan (partner). Luna (trusted friend). Vorrak (valued ally). Tika (cautious trust, history earned offscreen).
---
### Karrigan
**Race:** Orc (Norrskaal, white-skinned, Stormbreaker bloodline) **Role:** Warrior, coalition legitimizer, Valanthe's partner **Appearance:** White skin, braided hair, bone mask worn in formal or combat situations. Forked staff. Carries a dagger taken before the group disbanded. **Background:** Sister of Ugyat. Ugyat is now dead. The Stormbreaker bloodline passes to her, carrying legacy magic the orc clans recognize whether she wants them to or not. **Voice:** Speaks in short, deliberate statements. Rarely explains herself. Physical before verbal — her body communicates before her mouth does. **Book 2 Arc:** Learning to exercise authority she never wanted, exactly as she would choose to exercise it. Her presence beside Valanthe makes the coalition legitimate in orc eyes in a way no foreign elf could alone. **Relationships:** Valanthe (partner). Ugyat (dead brother). Vorrak (respected ally). Luna (complicated, earned trust).
---
### Faline
**Race:** Elf (from a mountain culture, Valish accent) **Role:** Mage, fire specialist **Appearance:** Right arm burned away to the elbow by an enemy's wand during Book 1. Adapted to cast with her remaining hand. Empty sleeve tucked or tied. Convergence energy is beginning to regenerate the arm — the process is ongoing and unsettling. **Background:** From a mountain people. References her culture in sayings ("back on my mountain, we say..."). Practical, measured, not warm but not cold. **Voice:** Economical. Her accent thickens under fear or anger. Favors observation before action. **Book 2 Arc:** Her magic and her regenerating arm may be the same story. Convergence energy is remaking her. She is learning that adaptation is not loss.
---
### Luna
**Race:** Umbrigen (convergence-born, not traditionally born) **Role:** Circle of the Moon Druid, shapeshifter, scout **Appearance:** Pale, lean, silver hair worn loose. Mismatched eyes — one blue, one gold, with faint luminescence that surfaces when she forgets to suppress it. Comfortable unclothed. Moves like something that learned stillness from animals. **Background:** Made by convergence magic, cast into the world whole. Does not experience cold. Has anchored herself through druidic magic pulled from the grove. Ageless as a convergence-born creature. **Voice:** Growing confidence. Still careful. Speaks with the precision of someone who learned language by watching rather than being taught. **Book 2 Arc:** Is she a person or a byproduct of convergence magic? The druid path is her answer. By the final chapter she has roots and she knows it. **CR 20 Stat Block:** Drafted separately in `luna_statblock_cr20.md`
---
### Luminode
**Race:** Construct **Role:** Scout, mapper, recorder **Appearance:** Three feet tall. Single glass optical lens. Metal limbs that click on stone. Carries a shortsword. Powers down at night. **Background:** Origin unclear. Has been with the group since Book 1. Loyal without being asked. **Voice:** Reports in clipped mechanical phrases. "Recording." "Arcane instability increasing." Beginning to develop something between pattern recognition and dread. **Book 2 Arc:** Learning that some things cannot be mapped. He maps them anyway.
---
### Aios
**Role:** Valanthe's warhorse **Appearance:** Large, powerful, calm under pressure. Flanks scarred from battle. Breath steams in cold air. Ears alert for threats. **Notes:** Unnervingly calm through shifting terrain. Acts as guardian and witness. Valanthe relies on him without ceremony.
---
### Claw
**Role:** Karrigan's hawk **Notes:** Circles high during combat to avoid arrows. Cries sharp and urgent when danger is near.
---
## ALLIES
---
### Vorrak
**Race:** Orc (Icevein Clan, far north) **Role:** Chieftain, coalition ally **Appearance:** Large. Grey at the temples. No war paint in quieter moments. Heavy methodical gait. A man who has outlived too many chiefs. **Background:** Chief of the Icevein Clan. The most feared orc force in the region. Stepped forward first to kneel after the rift battle at the end of Book 1. **Voice:** Short declarative sentences. Measures before he speaks. No theater. Flat without apology. **Book 2 Role:** First to bring news of the Drakorian vanguard attack. Key voice for convincing the orc clans to accept giant alliance.
---
### Gravik
**Race:** Orc **Clan:** Scalemark **Role:** Chieftain, coalition member **Appearance:** Wears a cloak stitched with drakehide. **Background:** One of the three unnamed chieftains present at the final Book 1 meeting. Skeptic. Said "orcs don't kneel to elves" before Valanthe replied "then stand with me." **Notes:** Named in Book 2. Earned his place at the final coalition meeting.
---
### Shura
**Race:** Orc (female) **Clan:** Blackfrost **Role:** Chieftain, internal antagonist **Appearance:** Wears twisted tusks around her neck as her identifier. Broad build. Brows pulled low as default expression. **Background:** One of the three unnamed chieftains present at the final Book 1 meeting. Named in Book 2. **Notes:** Actively plotting to assassinate Valanthe. Waiting for a window that looks like the war rather than her. Running a political play alongside the operational one so that when Valanthe is gone the transition to orc leadership looks inevitable. See SHURA_WIKI.md for full detail.
---
### Ossik
**Race:** Orc **Clan:** Splitriver **Role:** Chieftain, coalition member **Appearance:** Tattoos down both arms resembling flowing river maps. **Background:** One of the three unnamed chieftains present at the final Book 1 meeting. Spoke plainly: "We lost Makar, and Bokko chose ruin. What happens now?" **Notes:** Named in Book 2. Most pragmatic of the three.
---
### Sion
**Race:** Elf (Veylaran) **Role:** Intelligence asset, reluctant ally **Background:** Last scout of a Veylaran resistance that no longer exists. Walked across half the world alone — through Drakorian-held territory, across open water, into Norrskaal — because every other option was gone. Carries four years of firsthand observation of the Drakorian war machine. **Knowledge:** Drakorian magical gates for siege weapon deployment. Dragon accompaniment ratios (two or more dragons per 200-300 soldiers). Intelligence-first doctrine before major offensives. The name Daxus and what it means when he appears. **Voice:** Grounded, direct. Does not argue with the orcs' distrust. Earns his place through what he knows. **Book 2 Arc:** Not welcomed. Relied upon. That is enough for now.
---
### Hrothvar
**Race:** Frost Giant **Clan:** Frostjarn **Role:** King of the giants, coalition ally **Appearance:** Ancient, scarred. **Background:** Challenged Valanthe to single combat. She did not refuse and did not fight like a giant. He ended it not because she beat him but because she showed him something he recognized. **Voice:** Stone-voiced. Speaks rarely. Presence carries more weight than words.
---
### Hektor
**Race:** Human **Role:** Former party member, now traveling independently **Appearance:** Pale outsider. Goblin-made prosthetic leg, functional in the way only something built by goblins under pressure can be. **Background:** After Book 1 he spent days making a flower memorial for the dead at the fort, then left with a small group of goblins who spoke Common. Has been traveling Norrskaal providing funeral rites to orcs, goblins, and giants alike. Learning Goblin and Orc. Has made some connections with the giants. **Notes:** The rumor of a pale outsider leading death rites across the north is him. Stranger and more sincere than anyone expects. Will seek out Valanthe and Faline after roughly twelve months.
---
### Tika / Mithraellon
**Race:** Fey — Twin Spirit of the Northern Veils **Role:** Ancient fey patron, divided being, ally of uncertain terms **The truth:** Tika and Mithraellon are the same entity. There is no separate ancient power operating through Tika. Tika is the ancient power. She is a divided being, always existing in two places at once — one half in the Veilwild, one half present in the frozen north of Norrskaal. Her two faces are not moods. They are paired halves of one hunger. **Valanthe knows this.** She learned it through the live sessions predating Book 1. She engages with Tika with full awareness of what she is. That makes every interaction more weighted, not less. She chooses to deal with her anyway because the alternative is fighting blind against Scaelithar. That choice and its cost carry forward. **The joyful face (Tika):** Playful, warm in her own unsettling way, impulsive, charming. Wants friends. Wants company. Does not understand friendship as mortals do. Her delight is genuine and still dangerous. The wand she gave Valanthe — given during the visits between books or in Book 2 itself, not in Book 1. A direct fey pact artifact. Appears twice in Book 2. Neither time is accidental. **The darker face (Mithraellon):** Cold, patient, calculating. Where the joyful face gathers, this one claims. Ancient and aligned against what Scaelithar represents for the natural world — but her opposition to Scaelithar serves her own expansion, not Valanthe's coalition. **The bargain:** In Chapter 13, Valanthe believes she is negotiating with Tika on behalf of Mithraellon. She is negotiating with Mithraellon through her joyful face while the darker face holds the terms. The bargain is smaller than what Mithraellon wanted and larger than what Valanthe is comfortable with. Valanthe thinks she got a reasonable deal. She does not know what she actually agreed to. This does not resolve in Book 2. **Voice:** Cheerful indifference to rooms full of orc chieftains. Operates through implication and affection. "I knew you would come back" — said knowing full well Valanthe did not visit as promised, and choosing not to say so. That is exactly how she operates. **The danger:** The Fae do not ruin mortals by hatred. Sometimes they ruin them by wanting them too much.

## ANTAGONISTS
---
### Scaelithar
**Race:** Dragon (ancient, god-ascendant) **Role:** Primary antagonist **Background:** His ascent to godhood marked the Great Subjugation. Elevated dragonbloods to power. Enforces exclusive worship of himself. Doctrine of conquest, subjugation, absolute supremacy of dragonkind. **Voice:** Ancient. Patient. Does not rage. Believes he has already won. Appears only twice in Book 2 — once through a dying herald's body, once in distant silence. Has not begun to march. That is the most frightening thing about him.
---
### Daxus
**Role:** Drakorian military architect, Scaelithar's instrument **Background:** Architect of the Veylaran conquest. Uses magical gates to move siege weapons with impossible speed. When Daxus appears on a battlefield, the outcome has already been determined. His name is the most important intelligence Sion carries.
---
## BOOK 1 CHIEFTAINS (STATUS AT BOOK 2 OPEN)
---
### Ugyat
**Status:** Dead. Killed in the final events of Book 1. **Legacy:** His Stormbreaker bloodline passes to Karrigan. The orc clans recognize this whether Karrigan wants them to or not.
---
### Bokko
**Status:** Chose ruin. Sided with Ugyat to the end. **Last seen:** Following Ugyat out of the Gathering Pit after Karrigan's speech. Fate after Ugyat's death unknown at Book 2 open.
---
### Makar
**Status:** Dead. Lost before the final events of Book 1. **Legacy:** His death is referenced by Ossik at the final coalition meeting. He had been the more measured voice on the council.
