_Angel‑Blooded Agents of the Gods of Solare_ --- ## Overview Churiphim are mortals born carrying angelic essence within their souls. This essence is not granted as a blessing nor inherited by chance. It exists by divine necessity—formed when gods require agents capable of acting in the mortal world without direct divine intervention. Churiphim are half‑angelic beings, shaped by the angel from which their essence originates. Angels in Solare are not creatures of simple benevolence; they are manifestations of divine aspects, forged to embody specific purposes such as war, mercy, judgment, renewal, or protection. When an angel gives rise to a Churiphim—through lineage, ritual binding, or divine mandate—that purpose leaves an indelible mark. A Churiphim does not represent a god in totality. Each reflects only a narrow **aspect** of their patron deity. Their power is focused, potent, and often burdensome. They are instruments, not favorites. Churiphim can be born among any mortal people. They largely resemble their mortal ancestry, though subtle signs hint at their angelic nature: luminous or metallic eyes, faint halos appearing only in moments of strain, metallic freckles, or skin tones of silver, pale gold, opalescent green, or burnished red. These traits often begin subtle and become more pronounced as the Churiphim learns to manifest their aspect. Churiphim mature at the same rate as mortals but often live longer, sometimes reaching a century and a half before age claims them. --- ## Churiphim Traits **Creature Type.** Humanoid **Size.** Medium (approximately 4–7 feet tall) or Small (approximately 2–4 feet tall), chosen when you select this species **Speed.** 30 feet ### Angelic Endurance Your angelic essence hardens you against energies tied to divine judgment and spiritual decay. You have resistance to **radiant damage** and **necrotic damage**. ### Heightened Sight Accustomed to perceiving subtle distortions in light and shadow, you can see in dim conditions with ease. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. ### Restorative Touch Your presence carries a stabilizing divine resonance. As a Magic action, you touch a creature and roll a number of d4s equal to your Proficiency Bonus. The creature regains Hit Points equal to the total rolled. Once you use this trait, you can’t do so again until you finish a Long Rest. ### Bearer of Illumination You instinctively command minor manifestations of divine light. You know a simple light‑creating cantrip. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it. ### Aspect Manifestation Starting at 3rd level, you can briefly release the angelic aspect bound within you. As a Bonus Action, you manifest one of the following expressions of your divine nature. The manifestation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it (no action required). Once you manifest an aspect, you can’t do so again until you finish a Long Rest. While the manifestation lasts, once on each of your turns when you deal damage with an attack or a spell, you can deal additional damage to one target equal to your Proficiency Bonus. The damage type depends on the manifestation you choose. #### Empyrean Ascent Luminous, wing‑like forms of energy unfurl from your back. Until the manifestation ends, you gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed. The bonus damage you deal during this manifestation is **radiant damage**. #### Radiant Eruption Blazing divine energy pours outward from your eyes, breath, or skin. For the duration, you shed bright light in a 10‑foot radius and dim light for an additional 10 feet. At the end of each of your turns, creatures of your choice within 10 feet of you take **radiant damage** equal to your Proficiency Bonus. #### Dread Aspect Your angelic essence twists into a grim and unsettling form. Shadowed wings or oppressive halos briefly appear, and nearby foes recoil instinctively. Creatures of your choice within 10 feet of you must succeed on a Charisma saving throw (DC equals 8 + your Charisma modifier + your Proficiency Bonus) or become frightened of you until the end of your next turn. The bonus damage you deal during this manifestation is **necrotic damage**. --- ## Angelic Provenance and Divine Aspect In Solare, no two Churiphim are truly alike. While all bear angelic essence, the nature of that essence is defined by **which angel they were birthed from**—and by extension, **which god that angel served**. Angels are not generic servants of good. Each is forged to embody a specific divine aspect. When a Churiphim is born, that aspect shapes more than power; it shapes instinct, temperament, and calling. The god defines the purpose. The angel defines the aspect. The mortal defines the choice. What follows are examples. These are not limitations. DMs are encouraged to use them as models when defining Churiphim tied to other gods of Solare. --- ## Churiphim of Angoria Churiphim born of Angoria’s angels inherit the burden of **righteous war**. Their presence carries weight—conflict feels heavier around them, but also more focused. These Churiphim are rarely driven by anger or bloodlust. Instead, they feel a deep resistance to unnecessary violence and an equally powerful intolerance for cruelty. They are instinctively drawn to protect the innocent, often placing themselves between oppressor and victim without conscious thought. When war is unavoidable, they fight with grim resolve, seeking not glory, but conclusion. Those who kill for pleasure or abandon restraint often feel their connection to Angoria’s angels grow strained, as if judgment waits patiently. Angorian Churiphim are often perceived as severe or inflexible. In truth, they understand that mercy without justice invites further suffering. --- ## Churiphim of Aria Churiphim tied to Aria’s angels walk close to the boundary between life and death. They are calm in the presence of dying souls and deeply unsettled by undeath in all its forms. These Churiphim notice the overlooked: frightened children, grieving parents, spirits lingering too long. They are drawn toward guidance rather than command, offering comfort in moments of transition. Death does not frighten them—but cruelty toward the vulnerable does. Aria’s Churiphim often struggle with attachment. They understand that all things end, yet still feel deeply. Compassion without denial defines them. To undead and necromancers, Aria’s Churiphim feel like a quiet, inescapable certainty—gentle, but absolute. --- ## Churiphim of Perserphina Churiphim born of Perserphina’s angels embody **divine contradiction**. They radiate warmth, beauty, and hope, yet are rarely allowed peace. Their presence inspires others—sometimes to love, sometimes to rebel, sometimes to confront truths long avoided. They are drawn to movement: travel, cultural exchange, art, healing, and acts of liberation. Slavery, oppression, and enforced shame provoke visceral reactions in them. Perserphinan Churiphim are often idealized and burdened by expectation. When they falter or choose themselves over others, the backlash can be severe. Hope, to a Churiphim of Perserphina, is not passive optimism. It is defiance wrapped in kindness. --- ## Beyond These Examples Angoria, Aria, and Perserphina represent only a fraction of Solare’s divine spectrum. Every god who commands angels leaves their mark differently. A Churiphim tied to another deity may embody knowledge, entropy, storms, secrecy, judgment, renewal, or truths yet unnamed. Churiphim are not rewards. They are responsibilities given form. --- ## Guidance for the DM When creating a Churiphim tied to a god not listed here, consider: - What **aspect** that god’s angels were created to embody - What **burden** that aspect would place on a mortal - How society reacts to someone who quietly represents divine will Churiphim are watched by temples, judged by rulers, and often misunderstood by those who mistake divine purpose for divine favor. In Solare, gods do not guide constantly. Angels do not intervene to correct deviation. The burden of interpretation rests entirely on the Churiphim. That uncertainty is not a flaw. It is the point.
