# Hearthstone – The Forgotten Vigil ## Overview Hearthstone is an ancient, stone-walled fortress located 34 miles southwest of [[Talonalton]]. Once a waypoint for patrols and pilgrims, it was long abandoned—until now. The refugees from [[Talonalton]] and their defenders have reclaimed it to withstand [[Raphael]]'s ghoul army. --- ## Key Facts - **Location:** Southwest [[Talon Grasslands]], hilltop overlook - **Status:** Recently reoccupied and fortified - **Structure:** 3-story main keep + surrounding buildings - **Current Use:** Refuge and last bastion against the undead --- ## Main Features - **First Floor:** Grand hearth hall, storage rooms, stairs, thick stone walls - **Second Floor:** Officer’s quarters, dormitories, arrow slits, map room - **Third Floor:** Rooftop battlements, bell tower, partial collapse zones - **Outer Wall:** 18–22 ft tall, 6 ft thick, defensible with towers at each corner --- ## Outbuildings - Stables, Forge, Granary, Workshop, Barracks - Shrine of [[Angoria]] (cracked but present) - Scattered defensible positions and chokepoints --- ## Environment & Smells - Dry dust, old ash, cracked stone, rust, oil, peat, faint sacred incense - Moss and wild herbs growing in the shadowed corners - At night: occasional whiff of sulfur or undead presence on the wind --- ## Siege Outcome - 200 villagers sheltered within - PCs and militia units (Axe Hands, Archers, Shield Bearers, etc.) held off a 300-strong ghoul army - Victory was achieved—**but a terrible roar followed** --- ## Post-Siege Threat - The **[[Bonehowler]]**, or worse, approaches - [[Rarvas]] and [[Raphael]] are unwilling to let the refugees escape - Hearthstone’s defensive potential is now critical for regional survival
