Forged from void-forged steel and blackened silver, Nightpiercer is a blade that embodies silence, death, and domination. Once the property of a forgotten high priest of a dead god of silence, the dagger was lost to time—until it found its way into the hand of **[[Jamik Ardan]]**, leader of the **[[Dark Consortium]]**. With it, he has carved a path of assassinations so perfect that his victims often die without a sound or visible wound.
The weapon radiates dark intent, absorbing the sounds of its surroundings, and it never reflects light. The hilt is wrapped in enchanted obsidian leather, and a small black opal shaped like an eye rests in the pommel—rumored to be a fragment of an ancient, watching entity.

### Properties
- **Weapon Bonus:** +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon
- **Damage:** 2d8 piercing + 8d8 necrotic
- **Critical Trigger:** If the target is surprised, the attack becomes a **critical hit** and the target **cannot regain hit points** until the start of the wielder’s next turn
- **Woundless Kill:** Victims slain by Nightpiercer do not bleed and show no wounds detectable by mundane means

### Abilities
**Silence of Death (1/Short Rest):** After a successful hit, the wielder may activate this ability. The target must succeed on a **DC 21 Constitution saving throw** or become completely **silent and undetectable by divination magic** for 1 minute. The target:
- Cannot speak or make noise
- Cannot cast spells with verbal components
- Cannot be detected by _scrying_, _detect thoughts_, or similar magic
**Shadow Veil:** While attuned to Nightpiercer, the wielder gains **advantage on Stealth checks** in dim light or darkness and cannot be tracked by nonmagical means.

### Curse — The Watcher’s Debt
Every time the wielder slays a creature with Nightpiercer, they must make a **DC 17 Wisdom saving throw**. On a failure, they gain **one level of exhaustion** as the Eye embedded in the dagger feeds on their vitality, demanding silence be maintained at all costs.
This curse is subtle and does not reveal itself until after multiple killings have occurred. Removing the curse requires a _Greater Restoration_ or _Remove Curse_ spell cast at 6th level or higher.
