## The Sacred Stone of [[Grushnar]]
**Type**: Divine Relic
**Location**: Inner Sanctum of [[Gor’Karn]]
**Status**: Corrupted and soul-bound to [[Korgath]]
---
### Overview
The Sacred Stone of [[Grushnar]] was once the **spiritual heart of [[Gor’Karn]]**, a divine relic that channeled the will of [[Grushnar]] the Reclaimer and served as an anchor for oath-bound warriors in life and death. Its divine flame ensured that [[Gor’Karn]] would never fall in spirit, even if its walls were broken.
That flame has now been extinguished, the stone **corrupted by [[Korgath]]** and warped into a necrotic beacon that animates the dead and binds spirits to endless unrest.
---
### Description
- A towering black monolith embedded with runes of fire and death
- Was once warm and glowing with gold and crimson divine energy
- Now pulses with a cold violet light, cracked with necrotic veins
---
### Functions (Before Corruption)
- Channeled divine blessings to warriors of [[Gor’Karn]]
- Bound the spirits of the fallen to [[Grushnar]]’s care
- Used in trials, rites of passage, and blessings of leadership
---
### Current Effects
- **Soul Binding**: Spirits who die within [[Gor’Karn]] become trapped
- **Necrotic Pulse**: Strengthens undead nearby and can trigger spiritual awakenings (or nightmares)
- **Corrupted Aura**: Divine magic near the stone flickers or distorts unless cleansed
---
### Role in the Adventure
- The final chamber is built around the Sacred Stone
- [[Korgath]] draws power from it; the party must disrupt or purify it to weaken him
- The spirits of **[[Sela]]**, the **Six Shields**, and countless others are bound to it
---
### Redemption Potential
- Placing the three **Rite Stones** in the ancient altar may momentarily weaken the curse
- Channeling a divine spell (like _Hallow_ or _Greater Restoration_) with the name of [[Grushnar]] may restore a spark of the Sacred Flame
- Doing so may release trapped spirits—including [[Sela]]—and deny [[Korgath]] his final resurrection
---
### World Significance
- One of the last remaining divine relics directly tied to [[Grushnar]]
- Its restoration could reignite orcish faith in the gods—or be used to corrupt other sacred places
- May be sought by clerics, necromancers, or those wishing to bind powerful undead
